Nostalgia, Now Out On DVD, With ‘Wonder Years’ And ‘Pee-wee’ Releases
Fresh Air TV critic David Bianculli:

"The Wonder Years holds up so beautifully in every way. It stars Fred Savage as Kevin Arnold (center), a teenager coming of age in the late ’60s and looking back on his life 20 years later in a narration provided by Daniel Stern.
Another 20 years have gone by since the series ended — Savage is old enough now to record his own middle-aged narration for the show – but The Wonder Years hasn’t dated at all. The music, the tone, the message, the nostalgia: Everything remains pitch-perfect.”

In Alexa Meade’s portraits, she literally paints her subjects.

Instead of painting on canvas (you know, like most people do), Meade paints directly on her subjects and snaps a photo. The effect is what looks like a two-dimensional painting. To explain the optical illusion, she says, “The mask of paint mimics what is directly below it. In this way, I am able to take a three-dimensional scene and make it look like a two-dimensional painting.”

These GIFs break the illusion, but watch this to see the true effect »

I thought I was finally starting to figure things out. It seems like any time you want to learn something, you have to unlearn something else. I thought I was a mutant— now it turns out I’m part alien. I’m a Pak-American part-alien morphogenic nerd.
